Homemade Kahlua
12 cups of strong brewed coffee
2 lbs of light brown sugar
5 tbsp of vanilla extract
750 ml of 190 proof grain alcohol*
Bring coffee to a boil, stir in brown sugar until completely dissolved.  Let cool.  Add grain alcohol and vanilla, put in bottles.  Let sit in a cool, dark place for a few days to steep.
Makes about 1.5L
*you can use vodka in a pinch, but high-proof grain alcohol works best for DIY liqueurs.
