I just picked it up at “Before You Go” which has a small single craft beer selection, which is a boon in this #FeBREWary thing. To be honest, I picked it up because it wasn’t a Pale Ale. Listen, I’m a bit of a hop head, but have you guys tried to find new beers that AREN’T Pale’s or IPA’s?
Anyway, I like it, has a bit of a stronger roasted malt than I was anticipated. I will definitely try something of there’s again.
Are you drinking a lot of their stuff?
The brewery is in Amherst, WI, a town of 1000 about 10 miles from Stevens Point. There’s a little brewery belt there, between Central Waters, O’So in Plover and Point Brewery in Stevens Point.
I just picked up their seasonal Bourbon Barrel Stout and Peruvian Morning, which is a bourbon barrel-aged coffee Imperial stout.
I think IPAs are so prevalent in craft brewing right now because the idea of more and more extreme hop flavors is such an American attitude. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, but I think it can also be used as a cheat- like making food really spicy in lieu making giving it complex flavors.
