Do you make these from scratch? My crust always cracks! How do you make them so smooth lookin’?
Yes, I made these from scratch. I don’t know a whole lot about baking, but I think having a relatively soft dough and baking at a lower temp (I baked these at 375 for 18 minutes) would aid in preventing the cracking. Also, they got a brush of melted butter before going in the oven to aid browning and another brush after coming out to keep the tops soft.
Just picked up some kale from the farmers market yesterday to try my hand in making them. Any advice?
Just did it for the first time myself. Here’s what I did:
Cut the stems and most of the ribs out of the leaves in a head of kale, toss in a tablespoon of olive oil and seas salt to taste. Put in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake about 20 minutes at 300º.
I don’t remember anything you said at the time, but that was where the Ryking dude freaked out at Rosa about her laughing at the Gurl Goes to Africa blog. Anyway, Rosa quit as a result of him being a complete fucking prick.
Oh right- I remember, but I have zero recollection of myself getting involved in any privilege-denying shitstorm.
yr right about tumblr, its search feature blows. i’m still not certain if you’ve simply adapted a new attitude or what because it was right around the time ‘gurl goes to africa’ was made and ryking was saying a lot of inflammatory shit.
I think that was definitely not me, because I have no idea what “gurl goes to africa” means or what ryking was saying- I’ve never followed him.
